Local Lodging Options for Refuge Visitors

  • Camping is not available on Malheur Refuge, but the BLM Page Springs Campground, located at the southern end of the Refuge is open year round. Other nearby BLM campgrounds include South Steens, Fish Lake, and Jackman Park. Visit the websites or call the Bureau of Land Management at 541-573-4400 for details. Camping is also available at Steens Mountain Resort near Page Springs. Call 1-800-542-3765 for reservations.
  • Malheur Field Station, a non-profit, environmental education facility, five miles from Refuge headquarters, offers group dorm rooms with kitchens, single wide trailers and full RV hook-ups for rent. Dining hall meals are available seasonally. Phone: 541 493-2629.
  • The Narrows RV Park, six miles from Refuge headquarters, offers full RV hookups, a restaurant, laundry and fuel. It is open from mid-March through mid-November. Phone: 541-495-2006.
  • The historic Frenchglen Hotel, at the south end of the Refuge, offers small quaint rooms and meals; also 4 modern rooms. It is open from mid-March to mid-November. Phone 541 493-2825 for more information.
  • The historic Diamond Hotel, 25 miles from Refuge headquarters, offers rooms and meals from the end of March to the end of October. Phone 541-493-1898 for more information.
  • A variety of motels and RV parks are available in the Burns-Hines area. Phone: 541-573-2636.
